When Carrie Toussaint's parents perished in a car crash, her life was thrown off course and set in a completely different direction. She was barely even given a chance to cope with her parents' death when she realized that her 16-year-old Jamie, was pregnant. Compelled to take the reins of what was left of her family, Carrie worked tooth and nail to help provide for her nephew, Jackson. To make matters worse, little Jackson is a sickly child, and is constantly in need of medical attention.
Now, at 26, she is still on the constant struggle to pick up the pieces of her loved ones. A journalist at The Daily Dirt, she also feels as if her career has plateaued. Tired of penning meaningless articles about celebrity gossip, her seemingly aimless job, and the endless bills trickling in, Carrie longs for a change of pace. So when her boss offers her a project on the Detroit Daggers, particularly on Kingsley Kelly, the all-star quarterback, a reluctant Carrie agrees, desperate for a chance to prove herself.
Kingsley Kelly, on the other hand, is on top of the world. The 29-year-old superstar ranks as one of the top 5 highest-paid athletes in the nation and is one of the most coveted players in the industry. On top of that, the sinfully handsome man is a magnet for the ladies, with scandal tailing him every chance it gets.
When Carrie meets Kingsley, the complete opposites are about as compatible as rubber and glue. Yet as much as they clash with each other, the intense sexual tension between them is undeniable. But a man of Kingsley's status comes with baggage – a lot of it. Little does Carrie know, the handsome footballer harbors a secret much more grave than forbidden women. It is one scandalous enough to potentially end his career.
But as Carrie knows, life has a knack for blinding you with unexpected punches...

POSSIBLE SPOILERS: This book started off great with a stereotypical whorish football star and a struggling writer. I had expected the writer to make him realize the errors of his ways, but I was quite wrong. I hate that this story spiraled into one of the silliest and mist unbelievable stories I've read in a while. I get that plot twisters are sometimes necessary to keep the reader engaged, but there were too many over-the-top twists: a stalker, intentional harm, and a crazed wife. Really? Also, this really isn't a love story. I never felt that Kingsley fell in love with Carrie...I mean, he kept right on going with his whorish ways. I was disgusted by him, and no matter how nice he was to Jackson, there was just no redemption for him. I was equally disappointed by Carrie and her relationship with Val. Additionally, I was disappointed by the naivety of Carrie.

Now let's discuss the heat. There is a lot of sex in this book, which I usually like. However, the sex scenes, in my opinion, weren't we'll written. The scenes read like a how to manual, only with too many adjectives thrown in. Carrie did this and then Kingsley did that...just boring. Even worse, none if the sex was emotional. Again, this was no love story to me!

I was really disappointed by this book, especially since the book had a strong start. Therefore, I cannot recommend it.

Tackled by the King A Bad Boy Sports Romance Stand Alone Novel edition by Christina Clark Literature Fiction eBooks Reviews

I didn't enjoy this book as much as I hoped I would. My biggest issue is even after Kingsley started somewhat of a relationship with Carrie, he continued to sleep around with other people. It literally took to about 80-85% into the book before he finally decided to stop sleeping with someone else and focus on the relationship he wanted with Carrie. The main reason I actually finished the book is because I was curious at how the situation with her sister was going to turn out. I don't mind the H or h sleeping with someone else before they get together but once that happens, the sleeping around needs to stop. This is your typical "bad boy" sports star screwing anything that gives him the time of day. Quite disappointing.

The main reason I am giving it 3 stars is because of the way he treated her nephew (which was very heart warming) and the twists that occurred with her sister. When Kingsley finally got his life figured out, he was a really good guy. Just don't understand why he couldn't have been like that more in the book.
To be honest I only made it to 21% and skipped through reading aprox 50% of that. The characters may improve but when the sister's 5 year old is the only one with substance it's time to call it quits.
**Slight character spoiler**
I'm not into my H or h cheating and the H is and with no true remorse. So far he has had explicitly detailed sex with 3 women, including the h in the first 21%.
The h I don't like or really respect all that much. I think it's because she just fell on the H d#ck band wagon and I guess I was just looking for a dinner female lead.
From the other reviews it might get better, but as there are a plethora of books to choose from with characters I may like don't see the point in wasting more time in reading a story that I know I don't like.
I liked the book but parts dragged some and I didn't like that the H was with anyone after being with the h. They weren't together as in a relationship but it still seems like cheating to me. So I put up four stars but it's really a 3.5 stars book. I dislike cheating of any kind. Esp. since the h was with someone else after being with the H. Cheating is cheating whether male or female. Still people who don't have a problem with it will like this book. SQ
This is a good book for those who likes sexy and romantic stories. The book is writing so well and the characters are amazing, you will love them. The plot is really great and it makes me want to read more and more. The story is very interesting and I like how realistic it can be, is not a fiction love that you will only find in movies or books, this love story is like from real life. So if you like romantic and sexy stories this book is perfect for you, also is not to long so is more precise and you will be more engaged with the story. I totally recommend it.
I had previously read one installment of author Christina Clark's "Tackled by the King" and LOVED it! I was thrilled to get my hands on the entire series in a standalone novel here and it was well worth the read. The story of Carrie, a struggling reporter who has had to work and fight for everything she has in life, and Kingsley, a star football player. The tension between the two is palpable from the beginning and there are great twists in the story to keep things flowing. I loved the differing perspectives given and the steamy scenes. Definitely recommend this one!
Many of the scenes are tasteful in that classic romance read sort of way, yet the author also made sure to include plenty of the hotter, steamy scenes for fans out there, like myself, who like our erotica scenes to be strong and vivid.

Considering I’m not a fan of sports in general really whatsoever, I was a little unsure of how the football theme would suit the genre – but I think it’s incorporated into the story really well in a way that keeps the plot original and unpredictable while also not being too influential that it takes away from the romance/erotica side, It’s really much more minor than I was expecting.

The most important part of the book here is obviously the relationship between the main characters, Carrie Toussaint and Kingsley Kelly – who Cassie meets on a simple business trip that turns out to be much more than she was anticipating. Well, to put it briefly, their relationship is unique, realistic, and even quite predictable in some scenes. At first, they don’t really seem compatible and they even fight a little bit but as the story progresses, a bond between them begins to grow strong in a way that genuinely seems real (with a few twists and setbacks thrown in too keep things interesting). I highly recommend it for any fans of the genre looking for something fresh and different.
